For those who’ve helped me in so many ways. Some of you I know well, and others not at all. I couldn’t have done it without you.
My Sister
Genius. Friend. Deft proofreader and doubt slayer. Thank you for encouraging me, offering insight and suggestions, exhibiting extraordinary patience, and helping me get over the terror of taking my writing out of the drawer and letting it see the light of day.
Thanks so much!
Teachers
Thank you to the amazing teachers I’ve been so fortunate to have known.
Some of you taught me the basics with enthusiasm and gave me a solid foundation for learning. Some of you opened my mind to new ways of thinking and beliefs. One of you taught me things about logic and reality that I never would have parsed out on my own.
When teachers go above and beyond the curriculum, and share ideas and lend a helping hand, it’s a gift that never fades.
You are not forgotten.
My Parents
Where to begin? This box would overflow if I listed every little thing I am grateful to you for. I will be brief.
Dad, thank you for teaching me how to shoot a gun, fly a plane, ride a horse, and drive a stick.
Mom, thank you for reading to me when I was a child, encouraging me in my own imaginative play, and not destroying my block city when you vacuumed.
Thank you both for being there for me.
The Robotic Unicorn Cult
You know who you are!
For awhile I lived in Athens, Georgia, and I had the privilege to belong to an extraordinary writing group. Their encouragement buoyed me on the hard days. Knowing them changed my life. Writing has been called ‘that shameful thing you do alone, behind closed doors’. Their company turned it into an adventure to be shared with friends. They also raked me over the coals until my writing (mostly) passed muster. I miss y’all!
Amy, Andy, Angela, Christopher, Dallas, Ed, Kaitlin, Michael, Sam, Stephen
Carol, Elizabeth, Letitia, Toni
and the many others who passed in and out of our group
I hope your writing is going well!
My Family
Living with a writer can be its own, um . . . adventure.
Sometimes you’re living with a warm, caring human being – other times you’re cozying up to a robot, or waiting out a hurricane. Thanks to my family for accepting all of my facets. Sometimes I feel like Chameleon in Xanth. When I’m stupid, I’m beautiful, and when I’m smart, I’m crazy. Wait, that isn’t quite how it went, is it?
